CBS 42: Tyson Foods facing lawsuit over fish kill

SIPSEY, Ala (WIAT)– The Sipsey Heritage Commission announced Tuesday they’ll be suing Tyson Foods for “the assault” on the Black Warrior River.

According to their Facebook post, Attorney Jud Allen will be leading the case.

Tyson Foods’ River Valley experienced a wastewater spill Thursday, June 6 that resulted in hundreds of dead fish floating downstream.

Environmental officials said Tyson Foods hired an emergency response coordinator to recover as much of the waste water as possible.

Regardless of the cleanup efforts, the Black Warrior Riverkeeper says Mulberry Fork remains unsafe.
