FOOD, AG INDUSTRIES GAVE TO POMPEO: Rep. Michael Pompeo, the Kansas Republican who has agreed to introduce a federal bill that would preempt states trying to pass mandatory GMO labeling laws, has been well supported by the agriculture industry. Agribusiness sectors have given almost $170,000 to Pompeo since he first ran for office to represent Kansas’s rural 4th district in 2010, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics. Of that amount, the food and beverage industry, which is part of that sector, has given Pompeo $82,000.
