Montana’s Own Old Salt Festival Is Back!

There’s a difference between a crowd and a community. Between an event and a gathering. Between filling a weekend and building a culture.

The Old Salt Festival is the latter.  Every June, we bring together Montana’s best ranchers, chefs, musicians, and makers—people who are preserving what’s worth keeping.  For three days, we create space for land stewarded well, food raised right, music worth moving to, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you slow down long enough to have them. Whether you’ve been with us before or this is your first year, consider this your invitation.

This Year’s Lineup (So Far)

We’re still rolling out the full program, but here’s what’s confirmed:

Dr. Bill Schindler, author of Eat Like a Human, joins us as our Land Talk Lounge keynote—bringing the science and soul of ancestral foodways to the conversation.

Live music from Saint of Soldier and the Halladay Quist Trio with special guest Rob Quist.

The Maker’s Tent returns with over 25 artisans and independent brands.

Swing dancing lessons for those who want to learn.

Cowboy/Cowgirl Speed Dating for those feeling bold. (Come single, leave hitched—or at least with a good story.)

Working ranch dog demos and equine-assisted learning for anyone who wants to see what partnership between humans and animals actually looks like. Day passes are $75 and weekend passes are $135. Kids, of course, are free!

2026 Festival Posters Are Here

This year, we have two signed, limited edition posters. Our classic Old Salt Festival Poster, illustrated by Montana artist David Goodson, and another piece dedicated to women. The second posters centers women as stewards, decision-makers and caretakers of working landscapes. The artwork reflects a truth we see every day: women balancing care, resilience and long-term thinking to sustains families, communities and ecosystems.

It’s a tangible tribute to that leadership and the relationships that keep land healthy and productive. And with every purchase, $15 goes directly to the Women in Ranching Community Regrant Program, providing funding and support for women-led workshops and educational projects that build practical skills in essential land and livestock work.
