The Organization for Competitive Markets — a group that advocates against consolidation in the agriculture sector — is starting a PAC today. It will “support candidates who stand up for independent family farms and our rural communities” for state and federal offices. The group has been a vocal supporter of checkoff program reform, the Obama administration’s pending GIPSA rules and country of origin labeling for meat, among other things. The announcement will take place at OCM’s Food and Agriculture Conference in Kansas City. Details for the conference are here.
